This is my 1 year update of using helminthic therapy for severe Crohn’s disease and total food intolerance.

Wow a lot has changed since my last written post 10 weeks ago.  And thankfully changed for the better.  I hope you have been following along on Instagram @letshealIBD

How I am Feeling Now

Me July 2023 just after having surgery to remove another abscess – I started helminths about 2 weeks later

Right now?? I am ecstatic!  As of this week my doctor has told me my labs show that I am in clinical remission!! My calprotectin is at a 15, and my CRP is within the normal range.

In the past my Calprotectin has been so high that it was beyond the range they test for….

I am still in disbelief.  This is the first time I have been in remission in over 3 years.

And I know this happened because I decided to take a risk and start using microscopic, intestinal worms to help manage IBD.

In the past year my total food intolerance has been reduced by about 80% and my IBD symptoms by about 80-90%.

I am still intolerant to nightshade vegetables, rice and peanuts.

And I still currently experiencing these IBD symptoms: 50% loose stools, nocturnal bowel movements… and that’s it???

Symptoms that have been healed:

  • weekly vomiting
  • weekly blood in stools
  • constant nausea
  • pain
  • discomfort and unease
  • urgency
  • fatigue
  • all issues with eating: running to the toilet, cramping, pain, bloating,
  • and total food intolerance. For 3 years I got most of my calories from meal replacement shakes….

So overall amazing progress !! And I am still hoping to continue improving (common solid poops!!! 🤞) as I know it can take up to two years to see the full benefits of the worms.

How I Feel Going Forward

I am apprehensively optimistic.  If I follow in the footsteps of many other successful self treaters then these results should stick.  So honestly, I feel positive and am looking forward to my future for the first time in a long time.

Is it possible that every aspect of my life is NOT going to be dictated by this horrible disease?  Is it possible to be free from Inflammatory Bowel Disease?  Is it possible to heal IBD?

I know not everyone has the same results as me with helminths as me.  Some people see improvements to their symptoms without remission, and I was afraid of this happening to me.  Or to fail the therapy entirely.  But I do think that the addition of a 100% whole food healthy microbiome diet and healthy lifestyle routines increased my chances of success dramatically.

Especially because I began the treatment in such a bad flare, which can delay the beneficial results of helminths.

Medications

Me July 2024 – One year into helminthic therapy and in clinical remission

For the first time in over 12 months I am fully off of the steroid prednisolone!!! After trying and failing so many times to get off the drug because of IBD symptoms would come back so full on.

I’ve now successfully gotten off of it!

I am still currently taking 100mg of Imuran every day. If I continue to stay in remission I hope to get off this drug as well. I only recently started it so I don’t feel as if this change will be too drastic for my body.

I am happy I’ve had these meds to help me all these years, but I am looking forward to a medication free future !!

Yesterday I looked at myself in the mirror, and tears came to my eyes. All I could do was look at myself and say ‘you did it’ over and over again.

I have found the natural medicine I have been searching for all these years.

13 years of suffering and all I had to do was take some bloody worms….

Thanks for reading,

In good health everyone ✨
