Helminthic therapyI created letshealIBD.com with one goal in mind: to find a solution for managing my severe Crohn’s disease long term.  It started as a kind of online journal about alternative therapies I would try, and how they would affect my Crohn’s disease.

I researched and tried lots of different therapies.  Including diets, long term semi elemental fasting, medications, and herbal remedies.  I did find some relief, and structure from using these therapies, but nothing ever put my Crohn’s disease in remission long term.  And each year my condition was getting worse.

When I first heard about using intestinal worms for autoimmune disease, like any good millennial I immediately looked on Instagram for accounts of people using helminths.

I could not find a single one.  There were less than 100 posts using the #helminths hashtag.  I couldn’t believe it; there’s an Instagram account for everything.  It made me question the credibility of the therapy a bit.

I spent the next few days looking into everything I could about helminths.  I deep dived into the Wiki, the research,  Youtube,  anecdotal evidence, and the Facebook support group.

By this point, I was convinced to try the therapy myself.

From the very beginning I was convinced that the worms would help me.  Maybe it was because it felt like a divine sign to me, maybe it was because the therapy made such logical sense, or maybe I was just desperately clinging to anything that seemed hopeful.

Helminthic therapyI have also always had the mindset that I would not be sick forever.  Even in my darkest hours, I always felt that my suffering was temporary.  Somehow I would find a way one day.

I simply did not believe it when my Doctor told me that Inflammatory Bowel Disease is incurable.  My immediate internal response was ‘that just means you are unaware of how to cure it’.  And honestly curing disease might not even be the medical system’s true intention.

I have always known that there is a reason for this disease, it did not come from nothing.  And if we can find that reason; we can avoid the disease.

Something Was Missing…

I could see a huge hole. While the Facebook support group is an amazing vibrant community, there was nothing on Instagram for helminths!  So many (especially younger) people who do not regularly use Facebook are not getting exposed to this crucial information.  And talking about my experience with intestinal worms on Insta builds credibility for the therapy.

I know that there are lots of people on Instagram who are ready for this information.  Who are open to alternative therapies.  Who do not blindly think that doctors will cure them.  These people are open to listening to their own bodies, and learning from others experiences.

As a whole I can see that more and more people are realizing that we have the power and knowledge to heal ourselves.

So, I created @letshealIBD to start sharing my story.

Helminthic therapyI want people to check Instagram and see that others are using this therapy.  So that when they take that initial search into the #helminths hashtag they will see that they are not alone.

I think this adds huge credibility to the therapy.  And Instagram has amazing reach.  I can already see that there is real potential to get people talking and curious about using intestinal worms.

Right from the beginning I decided to create video logs documenting my journey with intestinal worms on @letshealIBD.  That way I could create the kind of content I was looking for when I initially looked into the therapy on Instagram.

At the beginning I was too sick to do much more than just a vlog every 3 weeks, and write a blog every 6 weeks on here.  But once I started to get better; I started to become more driven to share this information with others.

My Why

And then, 12 months after starting the therapy.  After being in a severe Crohn’s flare for more than 3 years and suffering every single day.  The intestinal worms put me into clinical remission.

And that really lit a fire under me.  This became my sole passion.  And my soul passion.  My purpose has become sharing the good news of helminths with others suffering from Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

I literally created Let’s Heal IBD for you.

Because I have been in your situation, and I know how desperately overwhelming this horrible disease can be.  How it feels to feel like there are no answers.Helminthic therapy

And I searched for over 10 years before I came across this information.  My goal is to make this info as readily available for as many people as I can.  To help spread the good wormie word to anyone who wants to hear it.

And to show that patients have power.  We do not have to wait for double blind placebo trials, and years of bureaucracy, doctors and government to save us.

We have the information we need, and we can decide for ourselves what we want for our own health and body.

All of the info we need to self treat with intestinal worms is in here.  We are self-treaters; citizen scientists.  We are sick of being sick, and ready to take back control of our health, our life, and help others in the process.

I created Let’s Heal IBD to tell others that there is hope out there for those of us with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

So let’s work together, and let’s heal IBD!
