My Healing Plan

This a personal one. I am going to share with you something that changed the way I heal my body. A tactic that has helped me stay focused. And reduced the feeling over overwhelm that often comes with healing a chronic disease.

I am going to share with you my own personal healing plan. As well as show you,

  • What is a healing plan?
  • Why a healing plan helps
  • And how to make your own healing plan

What is a Healing Plan?

A healing plan is your own personal plan that lays out exactly what you want to heal. It is a deeply personal plan. It focuses more on the ‘what’, than the ‘how’ of healing.

When I wrote out my healing plan, some of the items on the list seemed impossible. Actually most of what is on my plan, I had (and still have) no idea how to accomplish. But writing it down does seem to solidify the idea that I am in the process of already accomplishing the list. It has given me direction.

Do not worry so much about how you will accomplish what is in your healing plan. If you keep an open heart and mind, the universe will provide you with answers.

It is important to remember that, like all plans made with the universe, there is no timeline. Healing takes a long time; often an entire lifetime. Creating a time restricted healing plan will only create frustration, and often disappointment.

My Personal Healing Planhealing plan

Below is a write up of my own personal healing plan. My five stage healing plan was first created in January 2022. Photographed is my 2023 updated version. I thought about it for weeks before I finally wrote it down. And I update and change it whenever I see fit.

My Healing Plan

Heal my intestines
  • Follow IBD-AID
  • No alcohol
  • Manage stress with yoga and meditation
  • Listen to my body
  • Take supplements + probiotics
  • Learn more about gut microbiome

Heal my Mindset
  • View myself as a healed person
  • See a mental health specialist

Heal my fistula
  • Get DLPL in India
  • Stay in remission to avoid new complications

Heal my hair
  • Hair oil treatment 2x week
  • Head massage, silk pillow case, wash hair twice a week, use rosemary water

Heal Secondary Issues
  • Heal anemia
  • Heal gut dysbiosis

Obviously having IBD is at the core of all these issues. But just saying you want to heal from IBD is an overwhelming, complex task. One that seems too difficult to attempt.

The goal of my healing plan is to create a list of tasks that seems manageable. Something I do not need to be intimidated by.

And I will tell you, when you complete something off this list is a huge, momentous event.

When I originally wrote this list, I had no idea how to heal my complex, stage 5 fistula. In fact multiple surgeons and doctors told me it was probably impossible to heal. But I chose to focus on healing, and keep an open mind.

This led me to finding

Dr. Porwal and Healing hands clinic . And healing from ‘incurable’ complex fistula disease.

Even since updating this is January 2023 (8 months ago), some of my ideas and plans have changed. I now see the microbiome as a huge part of my healing pathway. Which has led me to

trying helminthic therapy.

My healing plan is a fluid thing. I will always continue to work away at it, to try and reach my own version of optimum health.

Why Does a Healing Plan Help?

Living with a chronic health condition can be overwhelming at times. When I decided I wanted to heal myself naturally from IBD, I had no idea where to begin. My health was such a mess, I felt completely overwhelmed with the task.

I have always been a list maker. So I decided to break down what I wanted to heal, and created a list.

Obviously I wanted to heal from IBD, but specifically, what did that mean?

I broke it down into 5 categories. Doing this allowed me to see my healing plan in a more simple way. It wasn’t a completely overwhelming task. But a list of individual items that needed to be completed.

For me, creating this healing plan was a game changer. It made me more determined than ever to heal myself. It made the task seem possible.

How do I Create a Healing Plan?

A healing plan is a deeply personal project. I really suggest that you spend some time in deep thought before setting pen to paper.

I started with creating a Sankalpa. A Sankalpa is a deep resolve. It is a rule to follow throughout your entire life.

Creating a Sankalpa involves realizing that what you want out of life, is not external. Everything you could ever want out of life is already inside of you. You just need to train your mind to focus on it.

Yoga Nidra really helped me connect with this. I suggest that practicing Yoga Nidra is a great place to start.

Once you have established your Sankalpa, use it to create your own healing plan.

I created a short, uncomplicated, point form list. Under each point form I wrote some ideas or notes on how I was going to achieve these things.

For example, if your goal is to have two healthy bowel movements per day. Underneath it you could write:

  • Learn about herbs that control bowel motility
  • Create a symptoms journal to learn about personal trigger foods and patterns

Allow your healing plan to be flexible. It is possible that your goals will change. And as you learn more about your healing pathway, you can understand your own healing plan better.

Creating your own healing plan can be a great tool to use along your healing journey. For me it has made healing from a chronic disease feel possible. Even though I have not accomplished everything on my list yet. Each day I remain focused and open to healing.

And I look forward to crossing each of these items off my list.
