A BIG mistake
Recently I discovered a BIG mistake has occurred that has completely changed my helminthic journey.
When I recently returned from India I re-inoculated my NAs. I had stunned them by taking the intravenous antibiotic, ceftriaxone during abscess surgery.
This time when I received my order of helminths, it came with video instructions.
These instructions showed me how to pipette out the helminths from a vial. Then rinse it with the other vile.
Previously I just had to put the bandage right on my arm.
It took me a while to find the vile and pipette in the packaging. I had to look at the email instructions again to find them. The supplier sends a bandage in between two pieces of cardboard. This time he had put the viles and pipette under the tape that held together the pieces of cardboard and bandage.
I figure the helminth supplier is trying to hide the worms. As the Australian Post website states that it prohibits the sending of live animals, except for bees, leeches and silkworms packed and labelled as prescribed.
Later on that night I mentioned to Ron that this time the worms felt different. They were burning, and it was really itchy under the bandage. It felt a lot different than the previous 3 times I had inoculated.
I had a sudden thought.
I emailed my helminth supplier first thing the next morning.
He confirmed my suspicions, and fears.
A BIG Mistake
I was meant to be doing the inoculations like this the entire time.
I have literally been putting an empty bandage on my arm for the past SIX months. I started helminth therapy February 1st 2023.
I was shocked. And had to hold back tears.
Everything I had felt and experienced over the last six months in regards to my health and helminthic journey was not true.
I have been writing a six weekly blog update. I have been talking about it with friends and family. I have cried, and felt beyond excited over the treatment. None of it was real.
And I just wasted six months of time !! August 1st was supposed to be my six month mark. Now I am literally starting from zero again.
After apologizing the supplier explained to me that my instruction video had never sent. It was still in his outbox, it was supposed to have been sent with my original supply of helminths back in February.
He has financially credited all my failed doses.
I had no idea to look under the tape. With no instructions given, I just assumed that I simply put the bandage on.
After my first inoculation I had even emailed the supplier as I had some concerns about the worms not working. I did not get a rash or marks under the bandage after my initial inoculation.
I know that this occurs sometimes. And the supplier told me that because I was taking prednisone, I was less likely to see a response to the helminths.
I also wanted to start my helminth journey with 3NAs. I wanted a small dose because I am quite underweight, and wanted to ease into the new treatment. I don’t want any added worm flu side effects, while also dealing with IBD.
But now my first real dose is 8NAs!! Which was meant to be my third dose.
I am currently taking 16 mg of Prednisone a day. Which decreases my chances of worm flu. But I was hoping to taper off the steroids now. Especially because I thought I was nearing six months on helminthic therapy.
But now that’s not true, I will continue taking the steroids for a bit longer.
Otherwise I am feeling fantastic. I have been able to eat 3 whole meals a day. Plus snacks. I have had no nausea, and very little pain. I have two bowel movements per day.
Most importantly I am eating again. I am really underweight at 47 kgs. I think I am probably up 2 kgs from two weeks ago.
This is the best I have felt in possibly two years. So I am going to ride this wave for as long as I can.
I am now just taking time to heal. My main focus is creating nutrient dense, easily digestible foods. I am not returning to work for another 6 weeks. So I am taking my time; I am prioritizing rest, movement and socializing.
And I am happy to report with my most recent inoculation. I had 8 distinct marks where the worms went in. At least I know it has worked this time!
